There is plenty to do around Julatten so why not make a day of visiting here! Julatten is a natural wonderland and at 450 meters elevation it is cooler than the coast.
There are beautiful rain forest walks and freshwater creeks for swimming (with no crocodiles or jellyfish) and good 4x4 roads as well as hiking paths. The Tablelands website has some more information. If you want coffee, fuel and snacks there is the 9 mile store at the top of the range. Mt Molloy has some good eating options including some seriously good Mexican food at the Mt Molloy Cafe and some healthy options at the Mt Molloy Coffee & Wholefoods Store
I have attached two maps as PDF documents the first shows the 4x4 road from Julatten to Kuranda. Along this road you will find the bump track a hiking trail to Mowbray Valley behind Port Douglas. It is a great mountain bike ride. The Second map shows Mount Lewis National Park a beautiful road up to 1350 meters. At the start of this road you will find Churchill Creek. There are some great walking trails off this road with some amazing endemic plants.
